Opera by Richard Strauss (libretto by Ernst von Wolzogen), first produced in Dresden, Germany, on 21 November 1901. As revenge against the mocking and chaste Diemut, Konrad casts a spell by which all the town's lights are extinguished until Diemut yields to Konrad's desires.
