Feyzābād

Town in Badakhshan province of northeastern Afghanistan, lying at an altitude of 1479 m/4,852 ft on the Kowkcheh River; population (2001 est) 67,000. In spite of a severe earthquake in 1955, the population has grown rapidly from less than 10,000 in 1979. Rice and flour milling are the main industries.
