You may have seen that an executive of BP, formerly known as British Petroleum, took the Fifth Amendment on Capitol Hill recently.
The Fifth Amendment prohibits double jeopardy (being tried twice for the same crime), the taking of private property for public use without compensation, and forced self-incrimination in criminal cases.
According to the agreement signed by Moret and presented to the jury by defense attorneys, Moret told investigators she would invoke the Fifth Amendment against self-incrimination unless she received immunity.
