Kendo competition, Japan. One of the Japanese martial arts, kendo is derived from the skills of Samurai warriors with the sword. Now a form of sport, bamboo staves are used in place of swords.

Any of several styles of armed and unarmed combat developed in the East from ancient techniques and arts. Common martial arts include aikido, judo, jujitsu, karate, kendo, and kung fu.
