Finck, Hermann (1527–1558)

German composer and theorist. He wrote a theoretical book, Practica Musica (1556), in five volumes. His works include motets, sacred songs, and wedding songs for several voices.

He studied at the University of Wittenberg, where he taught music from 1554. In 1557 he was appointed organist in Wittenberg, but died the following year at the age of 31.
