Findhorn Community

    0.01 sec.

Findhorn Community

Spiritual community founded in 1962 in the seaside village of Findhorn, near Findhorn Bay beside Moray Firth, Scotland. Members believe it possible, through meditation, to contact, communicate with, and control the energy forces, called devas, which control the growth of plants. Attention focused on the community in the late 1960s when huge vegetables, such as 40-lb cabbages, were claimed to have grown without the use of fertilizers or pesticides.

The community was founded by Eileen Caddy (1917– ), Peter Caddy (1917–1994), and Dorothy Maclean (1920– ). In 1972 it was registered as a Scottish charity as The Findhorn Foundation.
