Finlandia

Symphonic poem for orchestra by Jean Sibelius, Op. 26, composed in 1899 (revised 1900; first performed in Helsinki, Finland, on 2 July 1900). It has become a work for national celebrations in Finland, being based on material sounding like Finnish patriotic songs, the whole of which, however, is the composer's own invention, not folk music.
