Finney, Tom (1922- )

English footballer, known as the ‘Preston Plumber’. Playing in every forward position, he scored 30 goals in 76 internationals for England 1946-58. He was celebrated for his ball control and goal-scoring skills, and was the first person to win the Footballer of the Year award twice. He played his entire club career with his home-town club Preston North End.
