Finnie, Linda (1952- )

Scottish mezzo-soprano. She studied in Glasgow and made her debut with Scottish Opera in 1976. She appeared with the Welsh National Opera from 1979 and has sung Brangaene, Eboli, Amneris, and Ortrud with the English National Opera Ensemble. She has sung in Der Ring des Nibelungen/The Ring of the Nibelung at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, at Bayreuth from 1988, and at the Vienna Staatsoper 1994-95. She made her debuts with the Frankfurt and Nice Operas in 1987, as Amneris and Waltraute. Her concerts include Mahler's eighth symphony and Prokofiev's Alexander Nevsky.
