Fiorillo, Ignazio (1715–1787)

Italian composer, and the father of Federigo Fiorillo. He was a pupil of Leo and Durante at Naples, and produced his first opera, Mandane, at Venice in 1736. He became court Kapellmeister at Brunswick in 1754 and at Kassel in 1762, retiring in 1780.

21 operas, most to texts by Metastasio; oratorio, Isacco; Requiem, three Te Deums; symphonies; sonatas.
