Firestone, Shulamith (1945– )

Canadian feminist writer and editor. Her book The Dialectic of Sex: the Case for Feminist Revolution (1970), which analysed the limited future of feminism under Marxist and Freudian theories, exerted considerable influence on feminist thought.

She was one of the early organizers of the women's liberation movement in the USA. Her other works include Notes from the Second Year (1970).
