Fischer, Edwin (1886–1960)

Swiss pianist and conductor. In addition to his activities as a soloist he also conducted orchestras in Lübeck, Munich, and Berlin, Germany. He edited a number of early keyboard works and wrote books on Bach and on Beethoven's piano sonatas.

He studied at the Basel Conservatory, where he later taught for several years. He returned to Switzerland from Germany in 1942 and was a successful teacher in Lucerne and elsewhere.
