Fischer, Johann Caspar Ferdinand

    0.01 sec.

Fischer, Johann Caspar Ferdinand (c. 1665-1746)

German composer. From 1692 he was Kapellmeister to the Margrave of Baden in Schlackenwerth (Bohemia) and Rastatt. His keyboard music includes Ariadne Musica (1715), a series of 20 preludes and fugues, each in a different key, and thus a precursor of Bach's Das Wohltemperierte Clavier.

Other works include Musicalisches Blumen-Büschlein (a collection of keyboard suites in the French style), Musicalischer Parnassus (nine suites named after the Muses), Blumenstrauss (organ preludes and fugues on the eight modes), Le Journal de printemps (suite for orchestra with trumpets ad lib), and church music.
