Fitzgerald, ‘Honey Fitz’

    0.04 sec.

Fitzgerald, ‘Honey Fitz’ (1863–1950)

US businessman and mayor. He ran a newspaper and was a state senator and Republican US Representative for Massachusetts, before he became mayor of Boston (1906–08, 1910–14). His administrations were plagued by charges of corruption and political patronage.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he was the father of Rose Kennedy and the grandfather of John, Robert and Edward Kennedy. His attempts after 1914 to be elected as governor and senator failed.
