Fitzpatrick, Sean

    0.10 sec.

Fitzpatrick, Sean (1963– )

New Zealand rugby union player. By his retirement in 1998, he was the most-capped All Black of all time, and had made more international appearances than any other hooker in the history of the sport. His tally of 12 tries in international rugby was also a record for a hooker. As a member of the New Zealand side that won the inaugural rugby World Cup in 1987, he appeared in all of the first three World Cup competitions. He was appointed captain of the All Blacks in 1992. In 1996 he led the Auckland Blues to victory in the first Super 12 competition, and became manager of their franchise in 2001. Altogether, he made 92 international appearances for New Zealand, including 51 as captain.
