Fitzwilliam, William Wentworth, Viscount Fitzwilliam (1748-1833)

British statesman. An enthusiastic Whig, Fitzwilliam was among those who joined William Pitt in 1794. He became lord lieutenant of Ireland later that year, but was recalled after he aided the Roman Catholics. When Grenville became Prime Minister, Fitzwilliam served as president of the council.
