Flat Rock

Town in Wayne County, southeast Michigan; population (1990) 7,300. It is situated 35 km/22 mi south-southwest of Detroit, on the Huron River. Settled in 1824, this factory town makes paper products and auto parts, and has railroad shops and oil refineries. A large Mazda assembly plant opened here in 1987.
