Fleming's rules |
0.04 sec. |
Fleming's rulesMemory aids used to recall the relative directions of the magnetic field, current, and motion in an electric generator or motor, using one's fingers. The three directions are represented by the thumb (for motion), forefinger (for field), and second finger (for conventional current), all held at right angles to each other. The right hand is used for generators and the left for motors. The rules were devised by the English physicist John Fleming. How to thank TFD for its existence?
