Flin Flon

Town in west Manitoba and east Saskatchewan, Canada; Manitoba population (1991) 7,100; Saskatchewan population (1991) 300. It is located 116 km/72 mi north of The Pas and 644 km/400 mi northwest of Winnipeg. It was established in the 1930s with the help of the Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Company. The mining of copper, zinc, gold, and silver, along with lumbering and fishing, are major local industries.
