Arden, Elizabeth (1884–1966)

Canadian-born US beauty expert and mass merchandiser. Born in Woodbridge, Ontario, she moved to New York 1908. Possessing an extraordinary business sense, she opened a beauty salon 1910 and expanded the firm in 1914 under the corporate name of ‘Elizabeth Arden’, a name she soon adopted herself.
