Flores Facussé, Carlos Roberto (1950– )

Honduran politician, president 1998–2002. A member of the centre-right Liberal Party of Honduras (PLH), he was a minister 1982–86 under president Roberto Suazo Córdova, and in 1989 an unsuccessful presidential candidate. He was president of the national assembly for four years before his election as head of state.

Educated in the USA, Flores was a co-owner of the independent La Tribuna daily newspaper and fought his presidential election campaign on a free-market platform.
