Flothuis, Marius (1914–2001)

Dutch composer. He was artistic director of the Concertgebouw Orchestra 1955–74, and was appointed professor of musicology at the University of Utrecht in 1974.

He studied with Hans Brandts-Buys.

Works

Orchestral

concertos for flute, horn, violin, chamber orchestra; Sinfonietta Concertante for clarinet, saxophone, and chamber orchestra.

Chamber

cello sonata, Partita for two violins (1966), Romeo's Lament for horn (1975), sonata for oboe, horn, and harpsichord (1986), Preludio e Fughetta for three trumpets (1986).

Vocal

Hommage à Mallarmé for voice, flute, cello, and piano (1980).
