flutter-tonguing

In music, a technique used mainly in playing woodwind and brass instruments, in which the player rolls an R while playing, creating a fluttering tone.

The technique is particularly effective on the flute, where can be used to create an ethereal effect. It is extremely hard on double-reed instruments such as the oboe.
