Fokker| German military aircraft, extensively deployed in both world wars. The Fokker DR 1 triplane was famously used by Baron von Richthofen's Flying Circus during World War I; it was a highly manoeuvrable machine which caused great damage among Allied aircraft. The D VII, a powerful biplane which appeared early 1918, is generally considered to be one of the great combat aircraft of all time. |
| The Fokker company, founded by Dutchman Anthony Fokker, switched to making regional aircraft 1950. The Daimler-Benz company acquired a controlling interest 1993, but in 1996 the loss-making company went bankrupt after the Dutch government withdrew guarantees. |
