Folard, Jean Charles, Chevalier de (1669–1752)

French army officer and military tactician. Folard served at the Battle of Cassano in 1709 and at Malpalquet in 1709. His military writings include Traite des colonnes et de l'orde profond (1727–30), and his column formation for battle was adopted by Napoleon.
