Foner, Eric

Foner, Eric (1943– )

US historian. He taught at Columbia and the City College of New York and gained prominence as a proponent of the new sociological approach to history. His works include Politics and Ideology in the Age of the Civil War (1980).

He was born in New York City and was educated at Oxford, England and Columbia University.
