Foote, Andrew Hull

Foote, Andrew Hull (1806–1863)

US naval officer. His naval career (1822–62) was highlighted by his antislavery book Africa and the American Flag (1854) and the abolition of the naval grog ration in 1862.

He was born in New Haven, Connecticut.
