Forchheim

City in Bavaria, Germany, on the Rhein–Main–Donau canal, 31 km/19 mi north of Nuremberg; population (1994) 108,900. Textiles, dyes, chocolate, paper, and optical goods are manufactured. In the early Middle Ages Forchheim was an important city of the Holy Roman Empire.
