Ford, ‘Whitey’ (1926– )

US baseball pitcher. A New York Yankees left-hander, he had more appearances (22), pitched more innings (146), had more strikeouts (94) and won more games (10) than any pitcher in World Series history. He was elected to baseball's Hall of Fame in 1974.

He was born in New York City. During his 16-year career with the New York Yankees, he won 236 games and he received the Cy Young award in 1961.
