Ford, James Alfred (1911-1968)

US archaeologist. Curator of North American archaeology at the American Museum of Natural History, he was a specialist in American prehistoric culture. He did fieldwork in Alaska, the lower Mississippi Valley, and the Andes and pioneered the seriation method of dating artefacts.

He was born in Water Valley, Mississippi.
