Forest Park

Town in Clayton County, northwest Georgia; population (1990) 17,000. It is located 18 km/11 mi south of Atlanta. It is a largely residential suburb, with some industry, including a metal plant.

Forest Park

Suburban town in Cook County, northeast Illinois; population (1990) 15,000. It is situated on the Des Plaines River, 14 km/9 mi west of Chicago. A chiefly residential community, it has some light industries, manufacturing filing cabinets, casters, venetian blinds, containers, and ballpoint pens, among other items.

Originally settled as Harlem in 1856 by German immigrants, the town was renamed in 1907 by combining the names of adjacent (and prestigious) River Forest and Oak Park.

Forest Park

Public park in the West End of St Louis, Missouri. It is situated 6 km/4 mi west of St Louis city centre. Created in 1875, it was the main site of the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition (the St Louis World's Fair). One of the largest US urban parks, it is home to the city's zoo, public art museum, and municipal opera. The St Louis Arena (1929), on its south side, is home to the ice hockey team, the St Louis Blues. Washington University is on the park's west, its medical centre on the east. Areas north and east of the park underwent renovation in the 1980s and 1990s.

Forest Park

Town in Hamilton County, southwest Ohio; population (1990) 18,600. It is a residential suburb, 14 km/9 mi north of Cincinnati.

Forest Park

Park in the northwest section of Portland, Oregon. It is situated on the northeast slope of the Tualatin Mountians, and is the largest park completely within the boundaries of a US city. It is noted for its miles of trails.

With its central location and excellent infrastructure from Forest Park and the Flushing Meadows Park nearby, to great transportation including multiple highways, the F, R, G and V and E express subway lines as well as the Long Island Rail Road, Forest Hills was probably the most sought after place to live in Queens.
