nature reserveArea set aside to protect a habitat and the wildlife that lives within it, with only restricted admission for the public. A nature reserve often provides a sanctuary for rare species and rare habitats, such as marshland. The world's largest is Etosha Reserve, Namibia; area 99,520 sq km/38,415 sq mi.

| On Borneo, where one of the largest remaining areas of forestland and orangutan habitat in Southeast Asia exists, a two-year reforestation project in the Supu Forest Reserve will focus on reforesting the Lower Kinabatangan River of Sabah, Malaysia, restoring the reserve's forest and wildlife resources. Each village forest reserve is zoned with one of three land-use designations. Around the edges of the Mabira Forest Reserve in Uganda, farms and woodlands are locked in a battle, and the woodlands are losing ground. |
