Fort Hall Indian Reservation

American Indian reservation in southeast Idaho; area 2,111 sq km/815 sq mi; population (1990) 5,100. It is located to the north and west of Pocatello, along the Snake River. It was established in 1869; in 1900 its lands were reduced, and whites poured into the area. The Bannock, most of whom live here now, left the reservation and fought briefly (1878) during the Nez Percé War. Other Shoshoneans now share the reservation.
