Fort Mill

Town in York County, north South Carolina; population (1990) 4,900. It is located 11 km/7 mi northeast of Rock Hill, and 21 km/13 mi south-southwest of Charlotte, North Carolina, to the north of the Catawba River. A factory centre, it also houses the corporate headquarters of the Springs textile company.

In 1977 television evangelists Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker opened Heritage USA in the town; it is thought to be the world's largest religious theme park, complete with an amphitheatre, condominiums, and waterslides.
