Fort Peck Indian Reservation

American Indian reservation in northeast Montana; area 8,519 sq km/3,289 sq mi; population (1990) 10,600, of which 55% is American Indian. It is situated to the north of the Missouri River and northeast of the Fort Peck Dam. Its administrative headquarters is the town of Poplar in Roosevelt County; population (1990) 900. Wolf Point is in the south of the reservation. Established in 1888, the reservation is home to Yanktonai Sioux and Assiniboine peoples.
