Fort Thomas

Town in Campbell County, north Kentucky; population (1990) 16,000. It is situated along the Ohio River, 8 km/5 mi southeast of Cincinnati, Ohio. This residential suburb, founded in 1867 as Highlands, was renamed in 1914 in honour of George Thomas, a Union commander. It has various light industries. The Fort Thomas military reservation was established in 1887.
