Forth and Clyde Canal

Waterway in central Scotland, joining the River Forth to the River Clyde. It flows east for 60 km/37 mi, from Grangemouth on the Forth to Bowling on the Clyde, and divides Scotland at its narrowest part. The canal was completed in 1791 and closed to navigation in 1963.
