Fortunatus

Hero of a popular European story describing the adventures of Fortunatus and his sons, who have an inexhaustible purse of money and a magic wishing cap. The moral is that worldly prosperity does not bring lasting happiness.

The earliest printed version of the story (in German) is dated 1509.
