Fox, James

    0.02 sec.

Fox, James (1939– )

English film and television actor. He is usually cast in roles in which he subtly captures the aloof, condescending qualities of the English aristocracy, as in Joseph Losey's The Servant (1963), but he also adeptly portrayed a psychotic gangster in Nicolas Roeg's Performance (1970).

Fox appeared in the musical comedy adaptation Thoroughly Modern Milly (1967) and the Isadora Duncan biopic Isadora (1968). After collaborating with Roeg again in Performance (1970), he took a break from acting until the religious drama No Longer Alone (1978). Later films include Runners (1984), A Passage to India (1984), The Remains of the Day (1993), Anna Karenina, and Shadow Run (both 1998).

From the 1990s he worked extensively in television, appearing in such productions as Fall from Grace (1994), Gulliver's Travels (1996), and The Lost World (2001).
