Fox, Tom

Fox, Tom (1949– )

US baritone. He sang first with the Texas Opera Theater and the Houston Opera, and was then a member of the Cincinnati Opera 1976–80. He appeared with the Frankfurt Opera from 1981 as Orestes, Escamillo, Amonasro, and Klingsor, and sang in a revival of Johann Christian Bach's Amadis at Hamburg in 1983. He was Escamillo for the Welsh National Opera in 1985. One of his best roles is Alberich in Der Ring des Nibelungen/The Ring of the Nibelung, which he has sung in Nice, Paris, San Francisco, and New York (at the Metropolitan Opera House, in 1992). During the 1993–94 season he sang Scarpia at Chicago, Klingsor in Munich, and Kurwenal in Brussels.
