Foxborough

Town in Norfolk County, east Massachusetts; population (1998 est) 16,400. It is located 19 km/12 mi west of Brockton and 37 km/23 mi southwest of Boston. Foxborough has been a manufacturing centre since a foundry was established in the 1780s, and is now a growing suburb.

Foxborough Stadium (also known as Shaeffer Stadium), home of the New England Patriots American football team, is in the town. Foxborough Harness Raceway, next to the stadium, has been operating since the 1940s.
