Frager, Malcolm

Frager, Malcolm (1935–1991)

US pianist. He studied in New York and at Fontainebleau, and made his recital debut in 1941, and his concerto debut in 1945. He won the Leventritt Award in 1959, and followed this with his first concert tours of the USA and Europe; he later made further tours to the Far East and the former USSR. His repertoire ranged from Haydn and Mozart (played on fortepiano) to Prokofiev and Bartók. He discovered and performed the original version of Tchaikovsky's First Concerto.
