Framlingham

Framlingham

Town in Suffolk, England, 35 km/22 mi northeast of Ipswich; population (2001) 4,500. Framlingham was built around a spacious marketplace, and has a flintwork church.

The church in Framlingham contains the tombs of several members of the Howard family (Charles Howard was a cousin of Elizabeth I). The town also has the remains of a 14th-century castle, which was the refuge of Queen Mary after Edward VI's death.
