Francis-Williams, Edward, Baron Francis-Williams (1903–1970)

British journalist. Francis-Williams was city editor, and then editor, of the Daily Herald in the 1930s, becoming controller of news and censorship at the ministry of information in 1941. He then became governor of the BBC and, in 1956, editor of the socialist weekly Forward. Francis-Williams was made a peer in 1962.
