Franckenstein, Clemens von (1875–1942)

German composer. He studied in Vienna, Austria, and later in Munich, Germany, with Ludwig Thuille and Frankfurt with Iwan Knorr. After a visit to the USA he conducted the Moody-Manners Opera Company in England 1902–07, then worked at the court theatres of Wiesbaden and Berlin, and in 1912 became general intendant of the Munich court theatres.
