Francome, John (1952- )

English National Hunt jockey who between 1970 and 1985 rode 1,138 winners from 5,072 mounts. He was the second person (after Stan Mellor) to ride 1,000 winners under National Hunt rules. He took up training after retiring from riding and also became a popular television broadcaster on racing.
