This "Precise Cast Prototyping" technique, known as PCPro, was developed at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology (Fraunhofer IWS) in Dresden, Germany, and is unusual in that it uses a CNC mill for making both the mold and the finished part. The patented system is called Virtual Reference Grinding (VRG) and was developed with The Fraunhofer Institute of Germany. In order to employ LFT-D in highly sophisticated structural applications, the Fraunhofer ICT combines continuous fiber reinforcement with LFT-D. |
