Freund, Paul Abraham (1908–1992)

US lawyer and legal scholar, recognized as an authority on constitutional law. After serving as a clerk to Justice Louis Brandeis (1932–33), he held a series of legal positions with the US government in Washington, DC (1933–39). A longtime member of the Harvard Law School faculty (1939–76), he published the books On Understanding the Supreme Court (1949) and The Supreme Court of the United States (1961), in addition to several articles. He was born in St Louis, Missouri.
