Fridley

Town in Anoka County, southeast Minnesota; population (1990) 28,300. It is situated on the Mississippi River, 13 km/8 mi north of Minneapolis. Founded by an agent for the Hudson's Bay Company in 1847, it was an agricultural area until the 1940s, when it became a bedroom community for its urban neighbour. There has been much commercial development in the northeast of the town.
