Fried, Miriam (1946- )

Romanian-born Israeli violinist. She studied in the USA with Isaac Stern, Josef Gingold, and Ivan Galamian, won the Paganini Competition at Genoa in 1968, and made her New York debut the following year. Her UK debut was at the Windsor Festival in 1971, under Menuhin. During the 1994-95 season she played with the Chicago and Boston Symphony Orchestras, and the Cleveland and Phialdelphia Orchestras. Her recordings include the Bach solo works and the Sibelius concerto.
